LUMIX Tether on macOS

On a Mac, most problems are permissions rather than drivers. Supported releases are macOS 12 Monterey, macOS 13 Ventura, macOS 14 Sonoma, macOS 15 Sequoia, on Intel and Apple Silicon machines.

1. Download the macOS installer from Panasonic.
2. Run the package and complete the installer; it places the app in Applications.
3. Launch it once before connecting a camera, so any first-run prompts appear while you are paying attention.

Recent macOS versions ask whether an application may communicate with a connected accessory. If that prompt is dismissed — or appears behind a full-screen window and gets clicked away — the result looks exactly like a broken tether: the camera charges, the Mac sees hardware, and the application finds nothing. Re-check the privacy and security settings for accessory and files-and-folders access, then reconnect the camera.

With the camera connected in PC(Tether) mode, open System Information and look at the USB section. If the camera is not listed there, macOS itself is not seeing it and the cause is the cable, the port or the camera's USB mode. If it is listed but the application does not show it, the problem is permissions or an application version that predates your body.

Panasonic documents that on macOS 13, 14 and 15 the multiple-connection feature does not work correctly when cameras are attached by USB. This is a platform behaviour, not something a setting fixes. For multi-camera work on a Mac:

• Use wired LAN on bodies that support it — the box cameras natively, or the GH5II, S5IIX, GH7, S1RII, S1II and S1IIE through a USB-LAN adapter.
• Or run the multi-camera rig from a Windows machine and keep the Mac for a single body.

Apple Silicon Macs are supported. If you are troubleshooting on an M-series machine, the useful checks are the same ones as on Intel: the USB section of System Information, the permission state, and whether a hub or dock sits between the camera and the port.

A Mac that sleeps mid-session will drop the camera. Prevent sleep while on power for the duration of the shoot, and turn off the camera's own auto-power-off timer.
