LUMIX Tether: frequently asked questions

Short answers, each linking to the page that covers it properly.

Is LUMIX Tether free?

Yes. Panasonic distributes it free of charge from its own support site. Any page charging for it is not the official source.

What is the current version?

Version 2.12, published 2025-11-26. Always confirm on Panasonic's download page, which is the authoritative source.

Does LUMIX Tether work as a webcam?

Not directly. It has no virtual camera device. You can capture its live view window in OBS and use OBS's virtual camera in Zoom, Teams or Meet.

Why is my camera charging but not detected?

Charging uses only the power lines. Detection needs a data-rated cable and the camera set to PC(Tether) USB mode.

Can I connect several cameras at once?

Multi-camera control is supported, but on macOS 13 to 15 it does not work correctly over USB. Use wired LAN, or run the rig from Windows.

Does it work over Wi-Fi?

Wireless control is available on the box cameras. For everything else, wired USB or LAN is the supported and far more stable route.

Can I shoot video remotely?

You can start and stop recording remotely on supported bodies. The captured video is written to the camera's card, not streamed to the computer.

Does lumixtether.com host the installer?

No. This is an independent guide. Every download link points to Panasonic's own support site.
