Connecting the LUMIX S5IIX
- Install LUMIX Tether 2.5 or later from Panasonic, and update the body's firmware first.
- Power the camera from mains through a DC coupler for any session longer than a few minutes.
- Set Setup → IN/OUT → USB → USB-SSD/Mode → PC(Tether).
- Connect a data-rated USB cable directly to the computer, then launch the application.
- Select the body in the camera list and confirm live view appears before you start shooting.

What this body does well tethered
- The only S5-generation body that can be driven over wired LAN, which makes long cable runs and multi-body rigs practical.
- Same tethered feature set as the S5II, including PDAF live view and direct saving.
- Wired LAN sidesteps the macOS multi-connection limitation that affects USB.
Limitations to plan around
- Ethernet requires a separate USB-LAN adapter; there is no built-in RJ45 port.
- Streaming features built into the body (SRT/RTMP) are separate from LUMIX Tether and are not controlled by it.
Problems specific to the LUMIX S5IIX
The LAN adapter is recognised but the camera never appears on the network.
Check the camera's wired IP settings and confirm the computer is on the same subnet. A static plan avoids DHCP races on isolated switches.
Multiple bodies connect over USB on a Mac and then misbehave.
